Red deer´s reproductive season 2009.

During the month of September 2009 we did several experiments to try to monitore red deers, as it is in this month at when the animals leave the forest to the marsh every evening and are easier to detect.
We made several flights with model airplanes and FPV (first person view)to test the detectability of these animals and estimating the impact they have on wildlife. Although the camera we used gave us some problems focusing, we got some acceptable photos and found that the animals showed little reaction when overflown by aircraft at a height of 150m.
We appreciate the collaboration of Dr. Juan Carranza Almansa and his team at UNEX: Leticia Castillo, Jose Manuel Seoane, Pilar Gonçalves, Adrian and Francisco Javier Jimenez Parejo, as well as Tom Fox and Athene Patrick Gadsby, students at the University of Southampton without whose help we could´t have done this work.
